Aftercare Product Favorites
One of my most frequently asked questions from clients is, "what can I use for tattoo aftercare?" and "where can I buy tattoo aftercare products?"
So for anyone who is curious or interested in my tattoo aftercare favorites, this is little list of my favorite products. As I tell all of my clients, if you know what products work for you already, then by all means use what you're comfortable with.
Just a few reminders before we get into my recommendations!
Caring for your fresh tattoo is super easy but super important! If you need a reminder on instructions of how to care for your new tattoo, please check out my aftercare page!
Tattoo aftercare products should have minimal ingredients and NO fragrance or added essential oils (to avoid irritation) and you should always perform aftercare with clean hands in a clean environment to avoid any cross contamination.
And now, my favorites!
I have been tattooing for over 8 years now and have used quite a few different products. I've also had numerous companies reach out and send me free samples to test out. Here are the ones I love.
Hustle Butter - this is what I personally use while I tattoo and for my own tattoo healing. It is fantastic, reduces irritation, stays moisturized but isn't sticky or heavy. It's also vegan!
Aquaphor - A staple in the tattoo healing community, very easy to find, very affordable. Personally, I only use Aquaphor when I'm getting larger areas of machine tattoos done because it really helps heal that faster (keeps the scabbing to a minimum). For hand poked tattoos, since there is minimal scabbing especially with small ones, Aquaphor seems like over kill and too balmy. But some people love it and it works just fine for them!
Lubriderm + Eucerin - honestly in my head these are the same exactly thing, but I know that they are not! Essentially any mild, healing lotion with minimal ingredients and no fragrance is a really good option for healing tattoos.
I hope this helps! Happy Healing!
